Sindelfingen: Internship in the Field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML): Implementation of a RAG System (Retrieval Augmented Generation) starting April 2025

In the Powertrain Software Development department for Mercedes-Benz vehicles, our task is to exceed the highest standards of comfort and dynamics while achieving the lowest possible energy consumption.

We are looking for a motivated and committed student to implement a RAG system with technically specific documents in various formats and from different systems as part of an internship. The goal is to enable engineers to access the desired information in the shortest possible time through a chat interface.

Your tasks:

• Identification of existing tools, RAGs, and required licenses within the Mercedes-Benz Data and AI Community
• Implementation of a Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) system
• Integration of technical documents from various formats and systems, including via API
• Testing and evaluation of the RAG pipeline quality based on KPIs
• Development of optimization measures for the RAG pipeline
• Collaboration with engineers to optimally tailor this tool to their needs

Qualifikationen

• Studies in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or a comparable field
• Knowledge in AI and ML, particularly in the implementation of RAG systems
• Experience with Azure
• Programming skills in relevant languages (e.g., Python)
• Teamwork and strong communication skills
