Training the next generation of scientists is one of the core missions of EMBL. The Internal Scientific Training team coordinates Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Programmes, which leverage the interdisciplinary and dynamic scientific environment and, together with the Fellows’ Career Service and the Complementary Scientific Skills Programme, provide world class training and career development for our fellows. The EMBL International PhD Programme (EIPP) is widely recognized as one of EMBL’s flagship programmes and hosts over 200 PhD students across six sites at any given time
Your role
As an EIPP Trainee, you will join the Internal Scientific Training Team, working closely with Programme Officer/Graduate Recruitment. You will collaborate closely with the Graduate Office (GO) to support in areas such as graduate recruitment, student support, and administrative tasks. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in academic programme coordination while contributing to the smooth operation of the training programme. Key responsibilities will include:
PhD Recruitment Support
Handle applicant inquiries and provide timely responses
Schedule interviews and arrange on-site visits, including coordinating travel arrangements and organizing campus tours
Process candidate reimbursement forms
Student and Administrative Support
Assist with internal queries from PhD fellows, such as semester fee reimbursements and university registration inquiries
Support the organization of training and other events as needed
Project Assistance
Provide support to the GO in ongoing projects, or take on a small, independent project that aligns with your interests and the team’s priorities
You have
Bachelor’s or Master’s student or a recent graduate with a degree in life sciences, education, management, human resources or a related field
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proactive and solution-oriented mindset
Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment
Interest in academic programme coordination and supporting young scientists
You may also have
Experience with event planning and project management
Experience in academic administration or student support

Salary
1500 EUR per month
The successful candidate is responsible for ensuring they have a valid work permit, if required, and appropriate national health insurance coverage for the duration of the traineeship.
